西城区图书馆特色旅游资料室成立于1993年初，是全国地级图书馆中最早开展特色服务的图书馆之一，拥有实用旅游、旅游理论、休闲娱乐等各类旅游图书、图册，并订阅全国各地反映旅游业最新动态的期刊、资料、报纸、光盘、录音、录像带等供读者借阅、查询。为加强与外界的联系，进行资源共享，图书馆先后与韩国文化新闻处、香港旅游协会、英国旅游局等驻京办事处、歌德学院北京分院等单位建立了合作关系，定期收集相关旅游资料，充实特色馆藏。

西城区图书馆旅游资料室目前提供旅游、人文、民俗相关的书籍13000余册，光盘资料1000余种，并订阅了70种杂志和20种报纸，同时我们藏有1964至今的所有美国《国家地理》杂志（英文版），《outside》杂志，原文《DISCOVERY》，Discovery VCD，为旅游爱好者提供了良好、舒适的阅读环境。

In recent years, we have also jointly established characteristic lectures in combination with social forces. In 2012, we jointly launched a series of brand activities of "diplomats take you to see the world" with China international friends Research Association, so as to provide readers and listeners with a window to understand the world. There are also a series of lectures on travel photography, golden light and Shadow Photography Salon activities, which are deeply loved by readers.
